Keck Medicine of USC – Newport Beach Radiation Oncology and Imaging delivers advanced imaging and radiation therapies to patients across Orange County and beyond. The specialists are experts in a wide range of modern imaging technologies and radiotherapies — from PET and CT scanning to stereotactic body radiation therapy/radiosurgery, low-dose radiation therapy (LDRT), next-generation surface-guided radiation therapy, and biology-guided radiotherapy.

As part of the USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center — one of the original NCI-designated comprehensive cancer centers — the fellowship-trained team treats all stages and types of cancer, including solid tumors, lymphomas, and metastatic disease. The combination of academic expertise and an unusually wide radiotherapy toolbox means treatment can be customized for each patient's tumor, anatomy, and goals.

The team includes radiologists, radiation oncologists, radiation therapists, medical physicists, dosimetrists, and oncology nurses, working collaboratively with surgical oncologists, medical oncologists, pathologists, nutritionists, and social workers. This multidisciplinary approach has been proven to optimize treatment plans and outcomes.

Treatments & technology at this location

Biology-guided radiotherapy (ReFlexion)

Next-generation radiotherapy that uses the tumor's own PET emissions to guide treatment in real time — particularly valuable for moving tumors and metastatic disease. The Newport Beach clinic was one of the first OC centers to install this technology.

Stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) / radiosurgery

High-dose, precisely targeted radiation in just a few sessions — used for lung, liver, spine, prostate, and oligometastatic cancers.

Surface-guided radiation therapy (SGRT)

Continuous optical tracking of the patient's body surface during treatment for sub-millimeter accuracy without rigid frames.

Low-dose radiation therapy (LDRT)

Emerging treatment for chronic inflammatory pain conditions (heel pain, osteoarthritis, plantar fasciitis), available at Keck Medicine.

PET and CT imaging

On-site PET and CT scanning for staging, treatment planning, and response assessment — read by USC Norris radiologists.

Multidisciplinary radiation planning

Every plan is developed jointly by the radiation oncologist, medical physicist, and dosimetrist, and reviewed against the patient's medical oncology and surgical plan.

Radiation oncologists at this clinic

2 fellowship-trained radiation oncologists practice here, with rotations across the broader Keck Medicine of USC radiation oncology network.

Frequently asked questions

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Bring a photo ID, your insurance card, a list of medications, and copies of any prior imaging (CDs are most useful) and pathology reports. If you've already had a biopsy elsewhere, the actual slides may also be requested for re-review.

How do I make an appointment or ask about a bill?

Call (949) 507-6700 to schedule. For billing, the Customer Service Department is at (855) 532-5729. Keck Medicine also offers online bill pay at pay.keckmedicine.org.

What insurance plans are accepted?

Keck Medicine of USC accepts most major insurance plans, including Anthem, Blue Cross, Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Health Net, Medicare, and many Medicare Advantage plans. To confirm a specific plan, call (818) 952-4730 or visit keckmedicine.org/insurance.

What is ReFlexion biology-guided radiotherapy?

ReFlexion uses the tumor's own PET emissions to guide each pulse of radiation in real time. This is especially useful for tumors that move during treatment (lungs, abdomen) and for patients with multiple metastatic lesions who might otherwise need many separate treatment courses. The Newport Beach clinic was an early Orange County adopter.

Will I see a radiation oncologist and a medical oncologist?

For most cancer treatment plans, yes. The Newport Beach radiation team coordinates with Keck medical oncologists at the 330 Old Newport Blvd clinic and with USC Norris surgical oncologists in Los Angeles so the plan is multidisciplinary, not siloed.
