Answer
How long does radiation treatment for cancer take?
Most external-beam radiation courses run 5 days a week for 3 to 7 weeks. Each individual session takes about 15–30 minutes, including setup; the radiation itself is delivered in just a few minutes.

Schedules vary by cancer type and technique. Breast cancer often uses 3–5 weeks of treatment; prostate cancer ranges from 5 days (SBRT) to 8 weeks (conventional).
Newer techniques (hypofractionation, SBRT, SABR) deliver higher doses in fewer sessions and are widely available in Newport Beach.
Side effects are usually mild and local to the treated area: skin irritation, fatigue, and area-specific issues that resolve weeks after treatment ends.
Most patients drive themselves to and from radiation appointments and continue working.
